Miss Pre-Teen California International 2024: Hannah's Commitment to World Ocean Day Beach Cleanup

Hello everyone,

I'm Hannah Wright, Miss Pre-Teen California International 2024. I am thrilled to share my recent experience participating in the World Ocean Day beach cleanup at Fiesta Island, San Diego, CA, sponsored by San Diego Whale Watch. This event, held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, was a remarkable opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our oceans and beaches.

Making a Difference
During the one hour and fifteen minute cleanup, my family and I were able to collect 68 pieces of trash, totaling 10 pounds. It was astonishing to see the amount of litter that can accumulate on our beautiful beaches, and it was incredibly fulfilling to make a tangible difference in just a short amount of time.

Why This Matters
My commitment to this cause is deeply rooted in my love for the ocean and its inhabitants. Trash on the beach doesn't just mar the beauty of our coastlines; it poses a significant threat to marine life. Animals can ingest or become entangled in debris, leading to injury or death. By participating in cleanups, we can help protect the delicate balance of ocean ecosystems and ensure that marine creatures thrive in a cleaner, safer environment.

This beach cleanup is just the beginning. I am dedicated to continuing my efforts throughout the year, participating in more cleanups and raising awareness about the importance of keeping our oceans clean.
